Watch Scot’s Haystack Connect Presentation

A few weeks ago at Haystack Connect, Enerliance CEO Scot Duncan was a speaker in one of the conference’s sessions titled Focus on Energy. For his part of the presentation, Scot talked about DCx (Dynamic Commissioning), and how it’s helped LOBOS to achieve significant energy savings. If you’re interested in the technical details behind how our LOBOS systems work, this video is a great place to start.

Enerliance Is Going to Haystack Connect

April 29th through May 2nd, we’ll be attending and speaking at the Haystack Connect Conference in Chattanooga Tennessee. Haystack Connect, named after Project Haystack, brings together system integrators, technology suppliers and customers interested in more efficient and sustainable buildings. The conference promises to offer the opportunity for these communities to network, share, learn and create new business.

Without getting into too many technical details, Project Haystack is an open source project that makes it easier for building equipment from multiple vendors to talk to each other.  Since better communication allows for more control and optimization, it’s a project we’re definitely excited about.

We’ll be participating in two speaking engagements during the conference.

On Tuesday April 30th from 3:30 to 5:00pm, Enerliance CEO Scot Duncan will be part of a panel titled “Focus on Energy.” Scot and three other experts will examine and discuss real world examples that show the energy saving impact of smart building technologies.

On Thursday May 2nd from 1:30pm to 4:00pm, Scot and Enerliance President Ray Pustinger will host an interactive presentation about LOBOS technology and building optimization.

Ray and Scot will be talking about how technology enabled by Dynamic Commissioning creates new business opportunities for systems integrators and energy solutions providers. The session breaks down optimization into three key concepts:

 1 – Address the whole system

Each component of a large-scale comfort system is interconnected (chillers, compressors, condensers, pumps, air handlers, fans, coils and valves) and each of those components is driven by the need to provide occupant comfort. It is vital to address the system as a whole, with occupant comfort and energy efficiency as the simultaneous goal.

 2 – Apply new levels of intelligence

DDC (Direct Digital Controls) systems do an important job; however, the routines they execute are limited by technology and operating principles that are generations old.  Today’s IP based communication, open protocols and hyper-fast data processing speeds provide the ability to add sophisticated intelligence to your DDC, enabling dynamic operating strategies that were never before possible.

 3 – Challenge the norm

The laws of thermodynamics are constant, but today’s technology makes it possible to align all the technologies that used to compete; this results in improved occupant comfort and reduced energy waste.
